The Matt Blackwell Field House

With blueprints drawn by Lancaster High School drafting class students, the first project of The Matt Blackwell Foundation began in the fall of 2001. It was a fitting way to begin honoring Matt, as athletics, especially baseball and the high school program, were his passion. With volunteers (men, women, young and old) working countless hours, the Matt Blackwell Field House was completed and dedicated on April 27, 2002. So many people, so many companies, donated their time, their talents, and their money to assure this would be a facility the whole community could take pride in. That’s what makes this building so unique and special. So many had a hand in making this dream a reality.

The culmination of six months of volunteer work and sacrifice now gives the LHS baseball team a state-of-the-art facility, unmatched by any high school program around. The building comes complete with an indoor batting cage, locker room, coach’s office, equipment room, and restroom facilities.
