April 8, 2010 : It was only fitting, on Matt's birthday, that the 1st Annual Matt Blackwell Invitational

was won by his team, the Lancaster High School Bruin JV Team. And it was only fitting that the team took

the title in "Matt-Like" fashion, never giving up and rallying in its final at bat in the semifinals toearn the

right to play in the championship game. Down 5-2 entering the bottom of the 7th to Peters Township High

School of Pennsylvania , LHS scored 4 runs to take the win and gain a berth in the titlegame against Fort

Mill High. In the championship game, LHS scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 1st totake a commanding 8-2

lead and cruised to a 10-5 victory to claim the Champion's Trophy.
